In the advancement of digital cameras today, there are so many alternatives of products you can choose. The choice of which camera to use is could be very subjective. Your choice could be based on model, type, manufacturer, functionality, and even colour.  To make decision making process easier for you, this article categorized camera based on type of functionality. It is up to you to decide cameras. However, maybe you should also consider how you would use it. There are several need list that you can consider before you shop, as follow.

1. If you just use your camera for "fun" such as taking picture of your family and friends, and less frequent of the other serious picture taking, you can consider compact or pocket camera. Why? It is because easy to carry, not so much advance setting parameter you should set. Everything is ready for you and it is set by intelligence software inside cameras. Just point and Shoot then.
2. As you want to take special portrait of your family or friends, your cameras should have a portrait shoot mode. If you want make a blurry background on your picture, consider have a camera that has a setting for aperture f/2.8 (for compact  or pocket camera usually f number is stated on the manual or even in camera body)
3. If you want to take a sporting event picture, you can consider pocket cameras that have a sport shooting mode, or at least have ability for you to set shutter speed, which makes you enable to freeze the moment of action such as people who are running.
4. If you want take a picture of animals, or even wildlife photography, you can consider to choose cameras that have 5X or greater optical zoom. The greater, the further you can stand from object. Also consider the camera ability to take several frames per second. Nowadays, a lot of pocket camera also more than 5X optical zoom.
5. Now, how about that things called mega-pixel? This actually related to print quality. It is about density of pixel (dot of colour) which able to captured by the cameras sensors. A 3.2 megapixel camera will give you best quality of 4 x 6 inch prints, and 5.0 megapixel will give you best quality of 8 x 10 inch. So, if you want a larger size of best printing result, consider the higher megapixel.
